Men’s trousers fall into two categories, smart or casual. Smart trousers; think suit trousers. Casual; jeans or chinos. But what about something in between? You want to look like you have made an effort but with a sense of comfort and an injection of your own style. Good quality fabrics are a must and of course a good fit.
Even after many washes and wear, good fabrics retain shape, look and feel and are perfect for smart, casual trousers. Wool or wool with elastane is good for longevity and comfort. In summer months, cotton including cotton blends are perfect.
What to wear with smart, casual trousers?
Things you already have in your wardrobe. Casual shirts, t shirts, sweaters, jackets. Think of a few textured pieces like linen shirts and knitwear. Not all knitwear is chunky and for Winter. Think fine knit polo tops and sweaters. We usually associate smart dressing with flat dark colours like black, navy or grey, but you don’t have to.
