How to wear a Casual Shirt
Can casual shirts be tucked in?
If you’re unsure, here are some things to consider. Think of the occasion. Going to the pub? Untucked. Special occasion? Tucked in. And if you are tucking your shirt in, wearing a belt will make your outfit look neater. If you are wearing a casual shirt without a jacket, untucked. Wearing a casual jacket or a coat over a casual shirt changes things a little, as it becomes slightly less casual, so tucked in. There are other casual shirt types that can be worn untucked, including a short-sleeved shirt (Hawaiin patterned ones included) a t-shirt, a polo shirt, and a rugby shirt.
How should a casual shirt fit?
Getting the right-fitting casual shirt to wear untucked is essential. They have a looser look than a formal tucked-in shirt but that doesn’t mean you have to wear a shirt that is far too big. The length of the shirt is important. The back hem should never fully cover your back trouser pockets. You want a close fit throughout your torso, and when fully buttoned up the lower half of the shirt is not tight and straining at the buttons.
