Men’s Casual Jackets… What is a Casual Jacket?

There are many different styles of casual jackets for men, from classic denim to the anorak. At Order Materia we think the fit should be comfortable, versatile, and have a relaxed silhouette. Fasteners can be varied from buttons, zip, or snap fasteners. And what is the difference between a jacket and a coat? It’s usually the length. Jackets are shorter and usually made of lighter-weight fabrics. A casual jacket can be both lined or unlined and coats are usually lined.

Here are a few styles.

The Bomber Jacket

A short durable jacket, usually with a front zip fastening, ribbed elastic waist, and cuffs. The original style originated in the USA Air Force where crew members wore it. Traditionally they were made of leather but are now made of many different fabrics.

Biker Jacket

Needs no explanation. Leather, studs, zips and you don’t need a bike!

Denim Jacket

A traditional classic. Everyone must have one somewhere in their wardrobe, from dark denim to a casual light blue. An easy shape and fabric to wear underneath other longer-length jackets or coats.

Track Jacket

A lightweight stretch jacket, featuring a zip front fastening with ribbed waist and cuffs. Sporty and usually has designer embroidered logos.

Short Parka

Designed for colder weather, Usually stuffed with down or synthetic fibres and has a hood.

Anorak

Not the same as a Parka. An anorak is a water-resistant hooded jacket. It sometimes features a drawstring at the waist and cuffs and has a concealed zip opening.

Field Jacket

These were originally of military specification. They have a standing collar, flap pockets, and snap fasteners. Again now made of various fabrics.

Shearling Jacket

Perfect for cold weather. A traditional shearling jacket has a woolly lining and a suede outer, but there are many variations today.
